CMS announces 'town hall meeting' on 935 appeals process

CMS announces 'town hall meeting' on 935 appeals process
October 05, 2009

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services on Nov. 5 will hold a "town hall meeting" conference call on appeals of Medicare payment denials under Section 935 of the Medicare Modernization Act. To pre-register for the call, email medicareoverpayments@cms.hhs.gov. In the coming weeks, CMS will issue an official meeting notice and other details on the call, scheduled for 1-3:30 p.m. Eastern Time. Section 935 established a new option for health care providers appealing a Medicare denial, which postpones the recoupment of denied funds when certain new criteria are met. More information on Section 935 and the Medicare appeals process is available to AHA members in a March 2009 advisory at www.aha.org/rac, and in CMS Transmittal 141.
