CMS notifying hospitals that failed to qualify for full payment update

CMS notifying hospitals that failed to qualify for full payment update
September 16, 2008

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services today mailed notices to the hospitals it has determined will not receive a full Medicare payment update in fiscal year 2009 because they did not meet all requirements of the quality reporting program. The hospitals will have until Nov. 1 to submit a request for reconsideration to CMS, as described on the QualityNet Web site. Hospitals must report on 30 quality measures to receive the 3.6% full market basket update in FY 2009. Hospitals not submitting data or fulfilling other requirements of the program will receive a 1.6% update.
