Less than 2% of organizations have decided to drop health care coverage for employees as a result of the new health care reform law, according to a survey by the Society for Human Resource Management conducted in late June. Forty-six percent of organizations said they will not drop coverage, 16% were unsure at the time of the survey, and 37% are conducting or plan to conduct an analysis on the impact of health care reform. The primary reasons behind organizations' decisions not to drop coverage were it would lower employee morale and job satisfaction, make organizations non-competitive in recruiting new employees, and send the message that the organization does not value the health of its employees.
