The Senate late yesterday approved a continuing resolution that funds federal programs at fiscal year 2007 levels through Nov.16. The bill also contains language reauthorizing the current State Children’s Health Insurance Program until that date if President Bush vetoes the SCHIP reauthorization bill passed last night by the Senate, as expected. The CR is needed to continue funding into the new fiscal year Oct. 1, as Congress has yet to pass appropriations bills for federal programs in FY 2008. The House approved the measure Wednesday. It now goes to the president for signature.
