The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is asking hospitals that are receiving a full Medicare payment update next year for participating in the Hospital Quality Alliance to visit http://www.qnetexchange.org starting Nov. 8 to verify information about their facility, including their name, facility type and accreditation status. Some of the information will be shared with the public when CMS launches a consumer-friendly hospital quality Web site in February at http://www.medicare.gov. Other information, including hospital ownership, will not be displayed publicly but will be available to researchers. Hospitals will have until Dec. 3 to contact their Quality Improvement Organization to correct any errors. If a hospital does not contact its QIO by that time, CMS will assume the facility's information is accurate. The agency said it will send an e-mail reminder to hospitals' QNet Exchange designee early next week.
