Hospitals wishing to contribute to the relief effort for victims of last week's earthquake in Haiti should register offers of support through the Center for International Disaster Information Web site, which the USAID is using to coordinate efforts. The American Red Cross is coordinating the distribution of relief supplies as they arrive in Haiti, setting up a 50-bed field hospital and training and recruiting 40-100 Creole-speaking volunteers to work as translators on the USNS Comfort, a U.S. Navy hospital ship where Haitians will be brought for medical care. The AHA today donated $25,000 to the American Red Cross relief effort.
