Kalamazoo, MI-based Bronson Methodist Hospital is the recipient of the 2009 American Hospital Association McKesson Quest for Quality Prize, the award's sponsors announced today. Boston's Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is this year's prize finalist and Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC, is the Citation of Merit winner. The three hospitals will receive their awards Thursday, July 23, at the AHA and Health Forum Leadership Summit in San Francisco. The Quest for Quality Prize is presented to hospitals that have made tremendous strides in pursuing the Institute of Medicine's six quality aims: safety, patient-centeredness, effectiveness, efficiency, timeliness and equity. The AHA, the McKesson Corporation and the McKesson Foundation established the prize in 2001. Bronson Methodist Hospital received a 2005 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for showing excellence in leadership; strategic planning; customer focus; and managing human resources, among other areas.
