AHA to honor leaders at its annual membership meeting in Washington

James J. Mongan, M.D., CEO emeritus of Boston-based Partners Health Care, will receive the AHA's 2010 Distinguished Service Award April 26 at the AHA's annual membership meeting in Washington. The award recognizes lifetime contributions and service to health care organizations and associations.

An AHA Award of Honor will be presented to Jack Bovender, chairman emeritus of HCA in Nashville, TN, for his personal commitment and leadership through HCA and the Institute for Diversity in Health Management to broadening minority representation in health care management. The Institute is an AHA affiliate.

AHA Board of Trustees Awards will go to Fred Hessler, managing director of CitiGroup in New York, and John O’Brien, president and CEO of UMass Memorial Health Care in Worcester, MA, for their contributions to the work of the AHA.

Christine Capito Burch, executive director of the National Association of Public Hospitals and Health Systems in Washington, will receive AHA Honorary Life Membership. For more information on the meeting, click on the "AHA Annual Membership Meeting" icon at http://www.aha.org.
