Hospitals asked to participate in quality improvement survey

Wednesday
March 29, 2006

Boston University’s Health Policy Institute and AHA’s Health Research and Educational Trust affiliate are inviting hospitals to participate in a survey that will gauge the nature and extent of their quality improvement activities and the perceptions of their front-line clinicians about those activities. Under a grant from the Commonwealth Fund, the organizations will study the current state and impact of quality improvement activities in U.S. hospitals to identify and highlight promising approaches and future areas for improvement. A letter about the project was sent today to hospital CEOs. Survey responses will be confidential and aggregated, and reported as summary statistics only. Participants in the study will receive a copy of the overall findings and a summary of aggregated findings for their hospital, enabling them to compare their experience with other peer hospitals in the nation. Hospitals with questions about the survey should contact Deborah Bohr at dbohr@aha.org (preferred) or (646) 678-4280.
