AHA webinar to update members on Medicare EHR program   11/01/2013
Tune in Nov. 19 for an AHA members-only update on the Medicare Electronic Health Record Incentive Program for hospitals. The 60-minute webinar will review the final rule for Stage 2 meaningful use of EHRs and changes to Stage 1 requirements; the attestation process for fiscal year 2013; the final FY 2014 rule for EHR certification criteria, standards and implementation specifications; and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ plans for auditing program participants. CMS call to review new process for accessing PECOS, EHR program   11/01/2013
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will host a Nov. 15 National Provider Call on its new streamlined process for securely accessing the Provider Enrollment Chain and Ownership System, Electronic Health Records Incentive Program, and National Plan and Provider Enumeration System. Some hospitals have reported that the recent changes to PECOS have affected their ability to access the attestation system to attest to meaningful use of EHRs for fiscal year 2013. AHA encourages hospitals to verify that they can access the attestation website well in advance of the Nov. 30 deadline for attestation and to participate in the National Provider Call.
CMS approves South Carolina dual-eligible demonstration   11/01/2013
South Carolina is the latest state to partner  with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services in the Financial Alignment Demonstration to test a new capitated payment and integrated care model for patients enrolled in both Medicare and Medicaid. Under the Healthy Connections Prime program, South Carolina and CMS will contract with health plan or provider-based organizations to provide integrated care to about 53,600 Medicare-Medicaid enrollees beginning in July 2014.
