AHA names vice president for legislative affairs

October 24, 2006

The AHA has named health policy veteran Linda Fishman its vice president of legislative affairs, a role in which she will manage the association’s legislative team and activities. Fishman most recently served as director of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ Office of Legislation, where she represented the agency’s policy positions to Congress. An expert on Medicare and Medicaid, Fishman also served in staff leadership positions for the Senate Finance and House Ways and Means committees, and as a senior advisor to the CMS administrator. “Linda has put her stamp on every major piece of recent health legislation involving the Medicare and Medicaid programs,” said AHA Executive Vice President Rick Pollack. “She brings a unique combination of in-depth policy knowledge and political skills to her new job. We are pleased she will be using her talents and vast experience to advocate on behalf of our nation’s hospitals.”
