Journey to perfection
For the past year and a half, nearly 1,500 hospitals and 31 state hospital associations have engaged in an effort to dramatically improve the quality of care and patient safety. They are part of a $75 million Health Research and Educational Trust (HRET) grant to form a so-called Hospital Engagement Network, commonly referred to as HEN. HRET, an AHA affiliate, has one of the largest grants and networks.
Hospitals & Health Networks (H&HN), an AHA and Health Forum monthly magazine, has created a series of short, inspiring videos, in which hospitals and state associations give first-hand accounts of the progress they have made.
Improving care is a never-ending journey toward perfection. Please watch the H&HN videos to see how far these hospitals have traveled along that journey. Tune in here.
Quest for Quality Prize
Speaking of hospital quality leaders, at the Health Forum/AHA Leadership Summit in San Diego, the AHA McKesson Quest for Quality Prize celebrated its 12th anniversary by presenting the 2013 prize yesterday, July 25, to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston for its culture of quality and efforts to achieve the Institute of Medicine’s (IOM) six aims of safer, more patient-centered, effective, efficient, timely and equitable care (see story on the right).
Hospital leaders who embrace the goals of the Quest for Quality Prize reaffirm that quality and patient safety are cornerstones of their commitment and mission. As they transform their environment, they can draw ideas and inspiration from our Quest for Quality Prize winners – the leaders and innovators who are fulfilling the promise of providing high-quality, safe care to every patient who walks through their doors.
Is your hospital interested in applying for the 2014 AHA McKesson Quest for Quality Prize’s $75,000 award? The deadline to apply for the marble and bronze award is Oct. 13. For more information, click on: http://tinyurl.com/lb7yyjk. Watch our video of this year’s prize winners. Tune in here.
